Healthy Veggies To Add to Your Diet

August 21, 2011

We have all been told, over and over again, that we need to eat our vegetables. It is hard to make us eat something we don’t like or does not taste good! One way to improve the taste of horrible veggies is by making a smoothy or a juice out of your good fruits and healthy veggies. The combination is healthy for you and will surely taste good or at least be drinkable. Try to avoid store juices that are loaded with sugar, you will not get the same healthy effect. While some veggies are good for us others are loaded with carbohydrates and starch and should be avoided or consumed in low amounts. Some good low-carbohydrate vegetables are sprouts, spinach, lettuce, celery, mushrooms, cabbage, asparagus, and cucumbers and so on. We all love potatoes but they are loaded with starch. A healthy way to have them is baked in the oven and avoiding adding sour cream or butter on them. Another thing to consider when eating your veggies is the dressing you put on them. Instead of covering everything up in your favorite dressing, place a little dressing on the side and dip instead. Dressings are usually not a good choice because they are loaded with calories so look for an alternative dressing like lemon juice or dressings sprays. Remember, you need to add vegetables to your diet not have it as your everyday meal.
