Energy Boosting Food

August 22, 2011

We all need a little extra energy to get along our days but we don’t do it the safe way. To wake up or get our caffeine, we go for the sugar energy drinks that are loaded with products we can’t pronounce and sugar! So next time you feel like reaching for an energy drink consider making your own energy smoothie from bananas, coconut milk, and pineapples. This is just one of many delicious recipes that will wake you up in a good way. A good snack to keep around you at work and home are raw almonds. Almonds are full of protein and magnesium and they taste good. Instead of having a plain sandwich for diner, substitute it with salmon that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. A good way to start your day off right is with a bowl of old fashioned oatmeal. Oatmeal is very versatile and you can add fruits to it to taste better, as well as make pancakes or muffins out of it. Fiber is an energy booster of its own and good source of fiber can be found in beans, whole fruits, and whole grain products. Besides drinking coffee or tea to get your blood pumping and body moving, fruits can do the same as well as dark chocolate. A great way to start off your day and not be sluggish is to have a good breakfast. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day so make sure to start off with a healthy, fiber-full meal each morning in order to be satisfied and energetic throughout the day.
